Here is a photo of our newest Rotarian as of the following date, Cindy Singer who was inducted on May 25, 2010. In the photo is also her sponsor, Doris Hauser and President Patrick Medlock. Cindy is married to Richard and is a Librarian in Hacienda Heights.

Industry Hills Turkey Basket Crew

The Rotary Club of Industry Hills gave out $8,100.oo to 27 teachers in the Bassett and Hacienda La Puente Unified School Districts on November 18, 2009. The Superintendents, Jim Ballard and Barbara Nakaoka respectively, of both districts along with the La Puente Valley ROP, Esperanza Fernandez were present to give out the awards. Each teacher also received a gift bag containing school supplies and gifts from member Paul Gough of State Farm Insurance in Hacienda Heights. Vicky Rossier, Director of the La Puente Hacienda Adult Education, coordinated the event. All of the above named people are members of the Industry Hills Rotary Club.

Today (09/22/2009), The Rotary Club of Industry Hills was honored to have a distinguished guest speaker, Ambassador Julio Balbuena of Peru. His presentation gave us new knowledge about the country of Peru, both past and present. Ambassador Balbuena also presented President Patrick Medlock with a certificate recognizing our Rotary Club's contribution to building clean water tanks along the Amazon River in the area of Iquitos, Peru .

Today's (09/08/2009) Rotary Speaker was Bob Nelson, VP and Managing Director of the Pacific Palms Hotel and Conference Center. Mr. Nelson's presentation was informative, humorous, and gave us a well rounded view of the hotel industry, and specifically, the Pacific Palms Hotel's current and future business strategies to meet the changing needs of demographics and clientele. Mr. Nelson, an actual resident on the hills of the City of Industry, is guiding the Pacific Palms Hotel towards new and exciting heights, and Rotarians are proud to be a part of the Pacific Palms community. On Tuesday, July 28, 2009, Marian Huetinck and Janet Donnelly were recognized as "Friends of Rotary" for their years of service to our Club. Thank you to the many Rotarians who attended to celebrate this recognition.

Owen McIntosh paid us a visit and in true Rotary style was asked to provide an inpromptu Program, May 12th, 2009.

To celebrate this year's Veteran's Day, four of our military Veterans made presentations revealing another aspect of their lives giving "Service Above Self." Gene Eddings - U.S. Army, Ron McPeak - U.S. Navy, Bob O'Connor - U.S. Marines, and John Kramar, U.S. Army.

Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to be at our Lunch Meeting this past Tuesday to meet our District 5300 Governor Gene Hernandez. He also announced that we received a matching grant for our Thanksgiving Baskets. The Baskets will be distributed to Hacienda La Puente and Bassett Families on Saturday, Nov. 22 from a new warehouse location at 15750 E. Salt Lake Avenue in the City of Industry (near Hacienda). Congratulations to Rotary Club of Industry Hills President, Dr. John Kramar who received a 14 year Perfect Attendance award from District 5300 Governor Gene Hernandez
